Our Review

I won’t go into too much depth here because vertical jump training really isn’t my forte, I played football and ran track so jumping ability wasn’t a top priority, so for the best info get it straight from the expert here.

Vert Shock is a program that finally brings vertical jump training out of the stone age. The majority of jump programs in the past focus on quantity overall quality, having athletes perform thousands of sub-maximal jumps that will never take your vertical to the next level. If you want to jump high, you have to jump high! Its sounds simple but many programs don’t do it. Vert Shock will have you actually performing these max effort jumps which will help to increase muscle strength and improve CNS recruitment.

How does Vert Shock Work?

Vert shock is broken down into 3 different phases over a 8 week training period. These 3 phases are pre-shock phase, shock phase, and post-shock phase. The first week of the program is the pre-shock phase which will prepare you for the intensity of the next part of the program, but that doesn’t mean you won’t see results. Vert Shock users will typically see 3-5 inches gained on their vertical jump during this phase.

The 6 week long shock phase is the guts of the program. This is where Vert Shock shines and what will help take your vertical jump to the next level. The Shock phase is where the program separates itself from others because of its focus on the central nervous system(CNS) and its effects on performance. The CNS is what lets skinny non athletic guys jump high and run fast. The CNS is responsible for muscle fiber recruitment, you’ve probably heard of people performing incredible feats of strength in life or death situations, like a mom lifting a car off her child. This is possible because in our day to day lives our CNS limits our power to save it for these situations. While we will never be able to lift a car on demand, CNS focused training like Vert Shock will allow us to get a little bit more muscle fiber recruitment on a voluntary basis.

The final phase of Vert Shock is the post-shock phase. This phase lasts a week and is what cements the gains from the program so that you don’t lose the extra bounce that you worked so hard to gain during the program.
